Haptic Heart

A Cardiovascular Auscultation Training Tool

Haptic Heart: A novel haptic cardiac simulator designed to help medical students and junior resident doctors practice their cardiovascular examination techniques! Haptic Heart generates patterns of vibrations designed to mimic the human heartbeat. It can generate additional heart sounds, murmurs or even a combination of both. You can even practice at different heart rates and see how this changes the pattern, adjust the intensity of different elements within the pattern and use the in-built quiz function to help you test your knowledge.

Explanation

The CoreHaptics framework was first released by Apple in 2019 alongside iOS 13. Unfortunately devices released earlier than the iPhone 8 (2017) do not possess the correct hardware which allows Haptic Heart to function. Likewise all iPads also lack the required hardware and thus are unable to generate the patterns of vibrations.
